I had a belly button piercing that got badly infected while I had the jewelry still in. It was hurting a lot and would get caught on my clothes, get tugged, etc., so I just decided to take it out. It left a really bad scar above my belly button, it is round and elevated. It is pretty noticeable and red, almost like a keloid. I don't know if I need to get plastic surgery, laser, or if there are any home remedies that I can do to try and fix it.

Piercing scars can be deep and heal with scar tissue and thick skin, a punch bx would remove most of that. After that heals try microneedling over the punch bx scar.

If you have indent scars (atrophic) from your nails, then there is no cream to really help it. If you have just darkening/post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, then your dermatologist can fade the spots with creams and/or chemical peels.
This can be improved with a combination of lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer
