I got a Monroe piercing when I was in high school and it’s left a pretty deep scar. Is there any procedures that could get rid of this? I’ve heard of something called a “punch biopsy”. Would this be the best procedure?
Answer: Scar revision Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. Based on your photographs, you may benefit from a surgical scar revision. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Scar Hello and thank you for the question! I recommend meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon in person to be sure however, it looks as if a subcision with a dermal filler will help even out the scar. Good luck!

Answer: Scar revision Dear plastixxx,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination but your scar might improve with subcision and dermal fillers but you might also need scar revision surgery. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
