Does it look like my implant has flipped? Will this need a revision? (Photos)

An implant flip/malrotation is a problem which may be corrected with physical manipulation. It can happen inadvertently and self correct. Surgery is not always necessary.

That being said, it can be an indicator of the need for tightening of the pocket (capsulorrhaphy) or upsize to better match pocket and implant. An implant with too much space to roam is more likely to move.

As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to determine whether your implant has "flipped" without a physical examination. Unfortunately, the newer, highly cohesive implants with greater fill volumes tend to lead to a fairly noticeable change in breast shape when flipped. The anterior surface of the breast appears flatter and less projected, particularly if the implants are above the muscle. My suggestion would be to see your plastic surgeon for an examination to determine the cause of the change and what the next steps should be. Good luck. I hope this helps.

It is very difficult to know exactly what is going on without doing a good exam. It would be good for you to see your plastic surgeon and get their opinion. There are a number of reasons why shape changes occur, and 1 of the more common ones is capsular contracture. This is diagnosed mostly by examination.

Hello- sorry to hear you feel defeated but your implants might not be flipped. If it has however it should be able to flip back. A mild difference could also be from asymmetrical swelling changes. Be patient & check with your plastic surgeon. It can still improve with time! Best wishes!

Your implant may have flipped or you may have developed a capsule. Please go visit with a plastic surgeon and be examined. Take your breast implant information with you.

It's difficult to determine without an examination if your implant has flipped or if there is something else causing the contour changes. Visit with your surgeon who can advise you after an evaluation. If it has flipped it may be able to be repositioned.
