Would like to sit in sauna. I am 2 weeks post-op breast lift augmentation. Will that affect my scars that are healing nicely?

Here at the gym and would like to go in the sauna for about 15 minutes will it be okay if I am post-op from breast lift and augmentation can I stay in the sauna I prefer dr. Robert hunsaker this question

Hello,It is probably not a good idea to increase circulation and the potential for swelling yet.  I would wait another two weeks. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question.  I would recommend you have your surgeon give you their answer for this.  In my practice I would recommend waiting at least 4-6 weeks.  In my opinion, while in a sauna the heat stimulates the vessels to dilate in response to the heat.  This could cause small vessels that were involved in surgery to open up and could cause delayed bleeding.  Check with your surgeon.  Good luck.

Thank you for your question. Glad your recovery is going well and you are considering a sauna. In my practice I would not encourage this at 2 weeks postop and you should ask your PS his/her advice.

dear, thanks for your question and provided information as well… 
I have to say that you are still early on healing process, it is too soon to
determine how your results are going to be, per now, they look very nice and
beautiful, you can have one bigger than the other, feel swollen and also have
bruises and open wounds, it is normal and that can happen for the first 3 to 4
months until your implants have settle in. I recommend you to wait and keep
using your post surgical bra, that will help you with the shape and support!!

I would avoid macerating your skin incisions so soon after surgery as it might effect your healing of your incision lines. I would recommend you try a sauna after one month.
