I have spent thousands of dollars over the years trying different fillers, like Juvederm, Stylage, Revaness, Sculptra and Radiesse, in my cheek, temple and chin areas. Could there be a medical reason for this? Other than fast metabolism? These were all performed by highly skilled doctor. What are my options? I’m stumped
Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Options when dermal fillers don't last long enough While metabolism does play a role, three weeks is a very short time for the fillers you have listed. While you may be working with a reputable doctor, it is important to determine the level of experience using injectable filler specifically as well. These treatments require expertise in both needle placement and dosing amount to achieve the best result. Some patients find that a series of injections over a few weeks tends to last a bit longer. You could also consider fat grafting instead of filler, which typically offers a more durable result.

Answer: Fillers I'm sorry that you have not had any luck with fillers. If you have tried several different types and brands with no improvement in longevity you may want to consider other alternative such as fat grafting.

Answer: More info needed to answer more comprehensively. Hi Lee8383I wonder what you mean ‘why won’t my fillers last longer than 3 weeks’?To answer this comprehensively Id want to know a lot more. What were your aims with treatment? And a good doctor will also ask what you feel the psychological gains will be. Are you seeing the same doctor each time? Where were the fillers placed and what were the quantities used? All those fillers you mention are good quality ones and some semipermanent so I don’t think this is an issue with the filler brand. Yes it is true those who do vigorous exercise, smoke, consume a lot of sugar (including alcohol), sunbathe repeatedly appear to ‘metabolise’ filler quickly but studies show fillers are often still in the skin 2 years later. It is sometimes the case because of either lifestyle or genes or both one may have an accelerated ageing process so whilst the filler may still be there on imaging it’s your body that is ageing around it. Possible without your treatments you could look very different. But 3 weeks seems excessively short, if that is your perception.I would advise you stick to an ethical doctor who is willing to discuss what your physical and psychological aims are and try to help you achieve them. Wishing you all the best from Chester in the UK!Dr Maeve Kenningham
