Thanks for your question. Assuming there are no considerable complications, you should be fine to travel 7 days post-operation. Address your concerns with your surgeon. All the best,
Following your surgery, you should plan to take it aseasy as possible for at least the first week of recovery. After this time, youcan slowly start resuming your normal routine. That being said, you should be approvedto go to Boston for the weekend as you have passed this minimum time frame.Especially because you are driving instead of flying, there shouldn’t be anymajor complications.
Most patients can travel after 7 days post op. However, consult with your surgeon as he or she knows the scope of the surgery and the specifics about you.
It's important to check with your operative surgeon upon what their postoperative instructions are. In our practice we allow patients to travel in that time frame. Patient will be pretty congested for the first week after the surgical procedure.
In general, I tell most of my septoplasty patients that recovery will be around 1 week or so. Most discomfort will be immediately after the surgery and for several days afterwards. Your nose may still be somewhat congested and swollen at 1 week, but this should not prevent you from traveling. However, be sure to discuss this with your surgeon as everyone has slightly different preferences. Good luck!
Most patients can travel at a week post op. We do out of town patients and allow them to travel at a week or sooner depending on what was done.
