How long is the bridge of the nose swollen for after getting septoplasty and a rhinoplasty? (Photo)

I got surgery in Guatemala by plastic surgeon Doctor Eduardo Olmstead and ENT Doctor Antonio Molina Hermes 5 weeks ago. I love the fact that I can breathe and my nose does look skinnier and smaller but my profile still looks kinda the same. I have a bump on my bridge that my doctor did mention that it was swelling and it was normal to be swollen after surgery and few weeks too but I am just over thinking and scared that bump is just going to stay there. Is this swelling normal after septo/rhinoplasty?

It is normal to have swelling for few weeks after the surgery, the amount and duration of that is different from patient to patient, usually between 4 to 6 weeks after the surgery about 60% of the swelling is gone, around 3 to 4 months after the surgery usually 70 to 80% of the swelling is gone, so you will see that the bump gets smaller, but it takes a full year to see all the swelling to go away. If once you have 3 or 4 months after the surgery the bump looks the same I will recommend you to contact your surgeon and discuss your concerns with him.

Time will tell. You are definitely still swollen at 5 weeks. By the three month time point, you should definitely be seeing improvement in this area. Dear nosejobbyyounggirl, Swelling will take several months to go down and takes an entire year to see your final result. The last residual swelling is typically in the tip of the nose while the swelling at the bridge of the nose (hump) typically dissipates sooner. Without examination it is hard to determine whether you have residual swelling or residual cartilage/bone that was not removed and you may require revision surgery to reduce your hump. I would speak with your surgeon regarding this matter. If you decide to have revision surgery down the line you may want to consider chin augmentation to better balance your profile.
