I am looking to have a breast augmentation done, but I can't decide on the profile - high or moderate - and would like professional opinions. Thanks so much!
Answer: Implant Profile Your breasts are already projecting and have plenty of lower pole fullness. You want an implant that can extend up into the region of your upper pole, so it's the diameter that matters most, not the profile or projection. In general, a lower profile implant would do that best without giving you excess projection or size. The results with high profile implants are frequently misunderstood and many thing that they provide the best upper pole fullness. This is usually not the case; they only reliably produce projection, and can frequently drop out due to there ball-like shape. Further, from a standpoint of durability, the smaller and flatter the implant, the better in the long run.

Answer: Breasts You need a lift, and your surgeon will guide you to the proper height based on your measurements and the size selected. You do not need to decide which profile.

Answer: Mini lift with small implants Your breasts are bottoming out and the nipples are pointing upward. Augmentation alone would be inadequate and make the situation even worse. The technique I recommend is a mini lift. Using a circumareola incision, your breast tissue is reshaped, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. At the same time, small implants can be placed totally submuscular. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Profile Selecting the proper profile really depends on your goals for surgery. You have natural fullness at the bottom of your breasts. Depending if you would like to continue to enhance this or add more upper pole fullness will help determine the appropriate implant for you. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Answer: Choosing the right size and profile breast implants for you I recommend an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and be measured. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants, if interested, and they choose what looks right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size and style breast implant is right for them. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author.
