Are my breasts "normal"? (photo)

Question

I've been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian disease. I had always had small low boobs. I am 5'3 and weigh 125 pounds. I was never fully happy with my breasts, as I felt like they were weirdly shaped and too small. I was thinking of asking my doctor to prescribe me pills to balance my hormones (since I produce alot of male hormones) Will this help me with breast growth? Do I have tubular breasts? Does insurance cover breast augmentation for people with PCOS?

Dear Canadian,   Thanks for posting your picture. From observing your picture, you appear to have beautiful,  perky, normal looking  small A cup size breasts.    You should have a spectacular result. I would recommend a full C or small D cup size , which are very attractive and natural looking. You did not provide your chest circumference measurement in inches , which is critical for the correct implants' size selection. Let's assume that you are currently 32 small A cup size, to become 32 full C cup size you will need implants with volume of 375 cc. For 32 small D - 425 cc.   I have been in practice for 30 years and performed breasts augmentation on thousands of patients. I would recommend to you smooth, round, moderate profile saline implants placed under the muscles through sub areola incision. That appraoch will give you the most consistent beautiful result with nice cleavage and precise , symmetrical sub mammary folds.  Unfortunately for you, insurance companies do not cover cosmetic surgery, unless you have a special provision for it, which is very rare and expensive. Most commonly, I have seen it with high corporate executives.   Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery , to make sure that the are numerous, consistent and attractive with the above mentioned features, plus perky symmetrical and natural looking.                                Best of luck.                                                  Dr Widder

Your breasts fall into the range of what is considered “normal” and are not tuberous. Although they may sit low on your chest, they aren’t sagging and have a pleasant shape. If you’re concerned about their shape or size, you can consider breast augmentation. Unfortunately, breast augmentation is not covered by insurance, even if you have PCOS.

Your breasts do not appear tubular or "weirdly" shaped.  They are a little small, low on your chest and slightly asymmetric.  You would probably would benefit from breast augmentation.  I would discuss with your board certified plastic surgeon the various options in terms of implants available to you.  Best of luck.

As you might realize from this website, there is a vast array of breast shapes/sizes/positions on the chest, and defining normal is difficult and probably unproductive.  Your breast position is a little low on your chest, and this would need to be considered in designing the best breast augmentation procedure for you.  OHIP would not cover this surgery.  Your endocrinologist should advise you regarding breast changes with hormone replacement.

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  With that
being said, based on your photographs, your breasts have a nice shape and appear normal.  I do not recommend taking hormone supplements for breast growth.  If you desire larger breasts, a breast augmentation with a silicone implant is a much better option.  This decision should
be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you
and your surgeon.   Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.   The most
important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend
that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who
can evaluate you in person.

Looking at your photos I might say that they are just small so you can consider having a  a breast augmentation with implants. The size of the implant will depend of what you want and what your body support; the results of this procedure are beautiful, giving you and excellent shape of the inner and outer pole of the breast.  
  
Before all this, of course, you need to get a complete medical evaluation and laboratory exams to check everything is fine. Also please try to find a board certified plastic surgeon, remember that your safety, always, is going to be first.
