I've spoken to one oral surgeon who thinks I should undergo lower surgery (and maybe even double jaw surgery) instead of doing a genioplasty alone because a genioplasty wouldn't be sufficient. He said my ceph shows a pretty ideal chin, and that trying to mask the main problem of the smaller lower jaw wouldn't be ideal. The problem is...I'd have to be in braces AGAIN. Can I get away with just doing the genioplasty and avoid jaw surgery and braces?

Making a quality craniofacial assessment is not easy or straightforward.
The assessment should come from providers who offer the procedure and I don’t think an orthodontist is the correct person to do this.

I have no non-surgical recommendations for what you describe. I think you’re going to find non-surgical approaches to be inherently limited.

Equality assessment needs to look at much more than your external profile.
A good assessment needs to look at your dental occlusion to see if the problem is simply in the mentalis or in the body of the mandible. My personal belief is that oral surgeons tend to make slightly better assessments...
