While Botox will do a good job at smoothing out lines, dermal fillers will do an even greater job at filling in dents and depressions. Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers can be injected into areas of the forehead which require additional volume.

If you are using fillers to address lines and wrinkles, your surgeon can inject them directly into the wrinkle to plump up the skin. For forehead contouring, fillers will be injected at marked areas to achieve your desired shape. Botox may be injected as well to enhance and prolong the results.

Injectables to the forehead area require skill and experience (because of the blood vessels in the area). This is why I highly recommend only seeking treatments from a reputable experienced injector. Such experts will know how much product to use and where to precisely inject it to safely achieve the most natural-looking results.

I would try Botox injections in your prominent glabellar muscles (just above your brows.). Injecting filler in the forehead can lead to severe complications such as blindness and tissue loss in the hands of expert physician injectors. It is just not worth the risk in my opinion. It would appear from the photos that the indentation is a result of the bony skull beneath. If so, the judicious use of an HA filler can help to elevate and smooth the region. However, this is an area that should not be left to a novice, non-physician injector as there are critical blood vessels in the region that if penetrated or compressed with the filler can lead to serious adverse reactions. So, make sure that you consult with a board certified, experienced cosmetic dermatologist. Best of luck.

If the “dent” you speak of is a crease, line, or wrinkle, I first recommend a neuromodulator, such as Botox or Dysport. We first must treat the cause of the lines which is from repetitive muscle movement of the forehead muscles. The neuromodulator will decrease the muscle movement that contributes to the lines. If the lines are apparent at rest, then it may take some time and multiple treatments of the neuromodulator to soften the lines over time. To speed up the appearance of the lines and wrinkles, collagen stimulating treatments can be done to soften the lines and make them less apparent. I often recommend microneedling to my patients which can be done with or without PRP. Microneedling helps to stimulate collagen and improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles and improve skin’s texture. Chemical peels can also be done to stimulate collagen, increase cellular turnover, thicken the dermis and epidermis, and make the lines less noticeable.

I would suggest vollure a dermal filler with a hyper diluted technique. This technique will help aide in the natural ridge area to blend that area in to the forehead area. This approach will not fully make the appearance of the natural ridge go away, it will help the visual appearance to appear softer.
