I have genetic nasolabial folds. I think is just common in Native Americans because my family and friends all have them. Mine are extra pronounced, as are the lines under my eyes and between my brows. Im terrified of getting filler due to the risk of getting it injected into an artery, and I hear it looks unnatural & moves around. I'm only 22 so I don't know if a facelift would be right but when I pull my face back there seems to be a lot that is loose. I'm search of options, thank you!

Answer: Dermal fillers. Not facelift Hello and thank you for your question. From what I can tell based on the picture you have provided, you do indeed have the prominent nasolabial folds, but you have a well defined jawline, no jowling, and do not really demonstrate any of the characteristic changes of facial aging (skin excess with wrinkles, soft tissue descent, volume loss due to fat atrophy and bone resorption). Based on that and your age, I would recommend that you definitely hold off on something as invasive as a facelift for now. Certainly there are risks with any procedure, even dermal fillers- but the risks of surgery are significantly greater than those of filler, as it is significantly more invasive. Also in your case, you would not benefit from a surgical procedure at this time. Fillers can help decrease the prominence of your folds, and can appear natural if done correctly by an experienced surgeon/injector. They can also be dissolved if needed, making them a great reversible option for your situation. It is very difficult to provide tentative surgical recommendations, especially since there is only so much information to be gained from the limited photos and only frontal view which you have provided. I recommend for you to come see me or another plastic surgeon for a formal consultation to thoroughly discuss your surgical goals, undergo a formal examination, evaluate all your options (surgical and nonsurgical), and decide on the best procedure(s) for your specific case. I hope this helps! Best wishes, Dr. Donald Groves Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Why RF microneedling may be right for you Thank you for your question and for providing photos. Since you aren’t interested in fillers and aren’t a current candidate for surgical intervention, you want to consider how you may benefit from RF microneedling. This treatment option uses radiofrequency technology to tighten and contour the skin while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. RF microneedling also increases the body’s natural collagen production, improves the skin’s quality and texture, and restores elasticity for a smooth, long-lasting result. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to discuss your concerns with you and determine the best treatment option.

Answer: Fat injections into nasolabial folds Dear vazqu2020, Thankyou for providing your pictures for reference. As per your pictures it seems you would benefit from fat injections into nasolabial folds which are permanent and fill the lack of volume in those areas. Since you are young a surgical procedure is not the most recommended but even after fat injections you are not happy with the results you can look into midface lift targeting your mid section. Furthermore, I would advise you to carefully research for an expert surgeon who uses endoscopy scarless facelift which is will ensure no long-term scarring and a natural look. Best Regards, TAS TEAM

Answer: Minimising Naso-Labial folds at 22 Thank-you for your query. The best option for you , based on your photographs and age, is the use of fillers. Face-lift does not help as much with naso-labial folds and you are also too young for a surgical face-lift . Please find an experienced Board certified Plastic surgeon near you who can address all your concerns and help you make a decision. All the best!
