Can nose filler cause permanent redness in the nose, and what to do about it?

My nose is getting redder and redder after a couple restylane injections, the last of which was 10 months ago. Many years ago I had surgery done on my nose. Short story, it was a disaster and needed reconstructive surgery. Fast forward and I got restylane a couple times and it covered up the damage really well. However my nose has progressively been getting redder w little veins. I've had several laser treatments to no avail. I don't know what to do or if I can ever get a filler done again.

The nose likely is red from small capillaries and veins. These can be improved with IPL and vascular lasers. You should hold off on Restylane injections for now.RegardsDr. J

Dear johndoeveryonenow:Anytime surgery is performed, the circulation to the area operated on is disrupted and must repair itself. Your nose surgery of yesteryear and subsequent procedures on it may have congested the blood supply. Restylane injected recently will also stress the blood flow and cause capillaries near the skin surface to develop or enlarge. In time, they will recede. If they don't, discuss the use of IPL or other vascular lasers to improve the redness. This will also help in patients with acne rosacea; an ailment that causes similar capillary redness. Always choose a Board Certified and well experienced Plastic Surgeon or ENT Facial Surgeon when combining the factors of injections, lasers, anatomy and surgery. All the best!
