The cost for an MRI to check breast implants varies, but it is generally about $1000 or so in Toronto, Ontario. Paying for an MRI allows you to schedule your appointment sooner. Some insurance providers cover the cost, so please ask your provider if they do.
An MRI would likely be very expensive in Canada. You might be better off getting one across the border in the US. It is unlikely to be covered by OHIP unless you have a genuine medical concern. Unless you have a problem with your breasts, an MRI is unlikely to show anything significant. The newer silicone implants do not leak as the gel is cohesive.
Dear Nicehearted,In general, an MRI is an excellent way to assess thestructural integrity of breast implants and any breast glandular anatomysurrounding the implant itself. If youhave functional, aesthetic or breast cancer concerns, your operative physicianor family physician can facilitate getting a breast MRI. If your concerns are immediate in nature, abreast ultrasound is often much quicker and is usually very good at assessingstructural integrity of an implant. Mybest advice is to seek the expertise of your operative breast surgeon, as theyare in the best position to reassure you regarding the integrity of the implantor any concerns of the glandular tissue over the implants. To find out more, please review the link below.I hope this information has been of some assistance and bestof luck.Sincerely,R.
