Can a mini face lift be done through the lower eyelid (blepharoplasty)?

Thank you for your question. Eyelid surgery is a spectacular complement to other facial plastic surgical procedures. Excess skin can be removed through the pinch technique. If you seek additional cosmetic surgery, then it would be more efficient to do it together. Always consult with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

Its not possible to do a mini-facelift through the lower eyelid incision. It is possible to do a mid facelift through that incision. A mini facelift is performed to improve the jowls and neck and a mid face lift is used to improve the area under the eyes. My preferred method to improve the mid face area is to add volume there, usually with a fat transfer or using fillers like voluma/juvederm or radiesse. 

Thank you for your question.  When your doctor said a mini facelift, he likely was referring to a type of midface lift done through the lower eyelids. A midface lift can be done through the lower blepharo plasty incision but not a full mini facelift as that would involve incisions around the ears.RegardsDr. J

There are midface lifts performed thorough an eyelid surgery.  These are not what is meant by a "mini-face" lift.  I think your potential surgeon is pulling your leg.  A mini-face lift is performed thorough an incision on the side of the face in front of the ears.  This provides support to the lower face and jaw line.  Consider seeking additional opinions before having surgery.

Thanks for the question. With out seeing you. I can not give you and answer on what can be corrected.The lower blepharoplasty can correct and improve the periorbital, lower lid area. There are techniques to augment the malar (cheek) and sub malar areas. This is not a mini-facelift. A facelift addresses the lower face, jowls, and neck. This can not be accomplished through a lower lid incision only. Be careful and get specific details on the proposed surgery and what exactly is to be accomplished. Beware of semantics, many different procedures are refered to as "mini" lifts by different doctors, mainly to make the operation sound more attractive. If you are unsure, get a second consultation from an experienced facial plastic surgeon.

Tough to tell what you need without some pictures.  However, any surgery done through the lower lids will not be a mini facelift.  You may be able to help elevate the midface through the lower lid with an extended blepharoplasty.  From  your description you don't have a lot going on in the lids and may benefit from just doing some laser to tighten the skin.

best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation.  Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can greatly improve the contour and relieve wrinkles in the lower eyelid/cheek junction.  This is not technically the same as a mini facelift.   Make sure you
specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have
had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their
results.

I think you are referring to a mid face lift. This is one way to do this.  You would have to be seen in person to determine if you are a candidate or not.

Ronellati, not sure what your surgeon has in mind. you need to get specifics from them. I do a midface lift with all my lower lid blephs; it's called a "SOOF lift blepharoplasty". Make sure you are seeing a surgeon that specializes in "only faces". See the video and good luck!
