I was told not to have Botox injections pre or post op because I'm having an ACL reconstruction?

I was not given the timeframe and this does not make much sense. I can't have dental work for 3 months post op but then I can with antibiotic treatment. Would this be the same Protocol?

Most likely your surgeon is just trying make sure you are doing everything in your power to make sure there is no increased risk for infection. After an ACL reconstruction, an infection in the body could spread into the knee which could be detrimental for your surgery. However, I do not think there is any reason why getting botox injections would increase your risk of post-operative infection. It is best to communicate with your surgeon and make sure you are both on the same page.Best of luck in your recovery from surgery!

Botox treatment should not interfere with any surgical procedure unless you are having a surgical procedure in the area you are getting botox.

There is no issue having Botox on the face, and a distant surgery such as the ACL of the knee. Your knee doctor may have said this based on absolutely nothing and no experience or any real knowledge of Botox.

There is no reason that I know of that suggests a prohibition to facial Botox pre or post ACL surgery and I suggest you ask your surgeon for clarification.  Perhaps he/she meant that you shouldn’t have Botox immediately (within 1-2 days) before surgery as being supine or the procedure itself may put undue pressure on the injected areas of your face and facilitate migration. Surgery, even Knee reconstruction, is not a contraindication for Botox treatment for facial wrinkles. I hope this helps.
