My tooth has a hole in it thats really big...and the other day, part of the back crumbled off. (Like a fairly small piece but still scary) im scared im going to have to get it pulled. What do you think? possible filling or crown?

One of the check points to ascertain a good restoration is establishing a strong contact with surrounding teeth with exception when none is desired for functional and/or cosmetic reasons. Your case clearly indicates that such contact was not achieved. Glad to hear your dentist plans to address...
Placing a permanent crown on a painful tooth is not recommended. From what you described, you will probably need a root canal. Talk to your dentist about it. He should at least perform a pulpal test and refer you to an endodontist for consultation.
Hi:My suggestion is to have your dentist take an xray of the tooth next to the implant to make sure there is no bone loss or infection. It is also good to recheck the bite in the area.Best,Dr. Maddahi
