Considering getting PRP done - likely with Acell. What's considered to be the best concentration levels for PRP? Results seems to vary across doctors. What are best practices for implementing and maximizing success with PRP? What sort of questions should I ask the practitioners during consults regarding the process to help ensure I choose wisely? Also, I believe I have Androgenic Alopecia and Telogen Effluvium - would PRP help?
Answer: Ideal Concentration PRP; Englewood cliffs nj In my opinion, a consensus exists that 4 to 5 times concentration is probably the most successful. Having said that, a lot has to do with the injection technique. If the injection technique uses the subdermal Depo injection, The PRP can spread and it is the total number of platelets rather than the concentration that is important. Answer: PRP To date there is no standardization as to the optimal platelet concentration factor or the time interval between treatments. Most data seems to indicate that a concentration of 4-6 times normal yields the best results.PRP might help with AGA or TE-I would suggest an evaluation by an experienced Hair Restoration surgeon.

Answer: Optimal PRP for hair restoration? I believe that 6X is the optimal concentration of PRP in other areas of the body. Adding ACell seems to give additional benefit. The newer technique of adding nanofat has promise to give even better results. I will start doing that soon. The ACell then can be omitted. I always add dermapen at the conclusion of the injections to get even better results. Not all PRP is the same, with many popular systems only giving around 2X.

Answer: PRP Concentration Thank you for your question. The general consensus is that a 4-6 fold increase in platelet concentration works the best. Let me make one other suggestion. Look for an experienced physician offering the ALMI hair restoration procedure. This procedure involves harvesting a small syringe of your fat, micronizing it to isolate the regenerative cells and then combining it with PRP (growth factors). This is then injected subdermally. It is best to do 1 or 2 additional PRP sessions following the ALMI procedure to get the optimal results. PRP has growth factors and recruits stem cells into the area. The hair loss process is associated with a loss of stem cells in the area so combining your own stem cells with your PRP should be more effective. I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore
