I feel as if my nose has been over shortened and i think I want it to be relengthened if that's possible. Could this potentially cover up how assymetric my nostrils were made from surgery?

Answer: Nostril asymmetry Dear alli_204, Thank you for your clinical post. In your investigations of possible options for revision rhinoplasty your current question about adding to the tip to both increase the length of the nose and create more refinement to the tip is certainly possible. Structured grafting of the nasal septum to lengthen the nose and refine tip position as well as altering the lower lateral cartilages can bring more refinement and symmetry to the nostrils as well as re-lengthen an overly shortened nose. Most importantly, I would wait a minimum of 12 months from the time of surgery before entertaining any revision surgery and interview numerous surgeons with good rhinoplasty reputations. In the City of Toronto certainly Dr. Peter Adamson is one such surgeon with an excellent revision rhinoplasty reputation. Dr. Bernd Neu, Dr. Philip Solomon and as well as myself and several other plastic and facial plastic surgeons have over 20 years of cosmetic nasal surgery and secondary rhinoplasty experience. Computer imaging with realistic review of range of outcome possibilities is an important way to have realistic expectations. If you had a septoplasty performed alternative source of cartilage grafting will need to be explored or the use of alloplastic structures. Dr. Oleh Antonyshyn at Sunnybrook Hospital also is an expert rhinoplasty surgeon and deals with a lot of revision rhinoplasties from trauma and cosmetic interventions. I hope this has given you some opportunity to review your options and best of luck. To find out more, please visit the link below. R.
