Can Botox cause missed periods? Been getting it for 2 years.

There is no proven research showing that Botox can have this type of side effect. It is important to follow up with your gynecologist and see what could be the cause of missing your cycle.  Best of luck to you!

I would recommend contacting Allergen, who manufactures Botox, and seeing if they have any data on missed periods in connection with Botox.  I have never seen this occur in a patient that I have treated, but Allergen would have the most information on this possible interaction.  

I have never heard of Botox having any effect on a patient's menstruation. However, if you are convinced, contact Allergan (the maker of Botox). Best of luck.

I am not aware of any reports of missed menstruation as a consequence of botox placed in the crow's feet. As noted below it may be worth contacting Allergan. I would also continue to have frequent follow up with your OB/GYN.

Thank you for your question.  The effects of cosmetic Botox injections are highly localized, and are limited to the facial muscles being treated.  I'm not aware of any reports of Botox causing irregular periods, even with larger doses to treat medical conditions.  Irregular periods are a fairly common medical issue, and I suspect that the correlation with Botox may just be coincidental.  Please follow-up with your gynecologist if you have any concerns.       

Thank you for your question.  I've never heard of Botox causing missed periods.  It is so localized in the muscles of the face that I don't see how that's possible.  It just may be a coincidence that you get botox and you happen to have missed periods.   Many women get botox as well as missed periods. 

There is absolutely no way that Botox used for cosmetic purposes can have any effect on menstrual cycle. If it was used to treat a urological problem maybe but that is a real stretch

As far as I know, Botox should not directly affect your cycle. I inject these toxins all day and have not had this complaint. Botox is common and irregular periods are common so there will be lots of women with this combination just like people that have jelly with peanut butter. I might guess that more women that use Botox also run, exercise, watch their weight etc . and these women would also be more likely to be in category of irregular periods so might be a link there but  do not think cause and effect

Absolutely anything is possible. Women can miss or get early periods while being stressed by just about anything. And it is considered to be normal. If this issue concerns you so much so, you should stop using Botox and observe if your periods return to being normal. Good luck from New York City
