UTI 1 day before my BA, will my surgeon cancel my surgery?

Question

My BA surgery is tomorrow at 2pm & I woke up with a UTI today (I get them often). I have already taken one dose of antibiotics and can get in 2 more doses before surgery time. I've already bawled my eyes out because I won't be able to reschedule my surgery this year. I already took time off work for this with months of planning. Is there any chance my surgeon will still allow me to have the surgery as planned?

infection so close to your scheduled breast augmentation. Contact your
operating surgeon to discuss your current UTI situation. He/she may be able to
provide reassurance and continue with the procedure. However, moving forward
with the breast augmentation will be up to his/her discretion and personal
protocols. Carefully following your doctor’s advice will ensure the safest
results.

This is up to your surgeons decision... You are already are taking antibiotics, prophylactic antibiotics usually cover UTI pathogens... Although is distant the infection site form the surgical field, theoretical implant or wound contamination is a possibility... Best regards!

Most Plastic Surgeons would not want to place sterile implants in a patient that is experiencing any type of infection.  This decision will need to be made by your physician.   Good luck.

Every surgeon has his guidelines.  In my practice in UK, an active infection requiring treatment (such as antibiotics), is an indication for postponing the operation. Breast augmentation is an elective surgery, so surgeons recommend patients be clear from all signs of infection before the procedure. Studies show that infection rates are higher in patients with active infections. I would advise you to contact the surgeon's office. First of all, you would want to get a formal urinalysis to confirm you have a urinary tract infection. If this test is negative, you can proceed with surgery. If it is positive, you will need to be treated and tested again. Once you have a clean urinalysis, you will be clear for surgery.
I know you must be frustrated with your circumstances, but the inconvenience of rescheduling until you are healthy is better than living with a lifetime of breast augmentation complications.
Be honest with your surgeon and contact him to get a formal urinalysis. For all you know, the study may be negative and you might be able to proceed with surgery.

Call your surgeon at your earliest convenience. It is possible a high dosage antibiotic can be prescribed to allow you to proceed with surgery. It is up to your surgeons discretion.
