Age 59, is liposuction an option after Coolsculpting didn't work? (Photos)

Question

I am 59 yrs old and have had multiple Cool Sculpting sessions in the past 3 years, which do not work! My question is liposuction is an option or should I be considering a different procedure? What are my options and what can I realistically expect? My target areas are bat wings, back fat and abdominal as shown in enclosed photos.

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You seem to have some contour irregularities and skin laxity which in my opinion would be best treated with a combination of liposuction and mini-abdominoplasty. I hope this helps.

The best procedure would be surgical excision. Liposuction only removes fat and the skin will hang. I recommend a brachioplasty for the arms and abdominoplasty with mesh reinforcement. The mesh creates a more hourglass figure by compressing the abdominal wall resulting in early satiety and helps maintain a reduced weight.

You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heats the skin with radiofrequency devices such as Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite, and ThermiRF to heat the undersurface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HI-DEF VASER Liposuction and can only be done by a well-trained body contouring specialist. At the same time, fat should be harvested and purified, with PRP and stem cells added, and then injected into muscles, indentations and cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a TT. Full tummy tuck should tighten your abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. Flanks liposuction would give you a better shape. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Liposuction works well when there is a stubborn bulge of fat under the skin that won't go away with diet and exercise.  The best results occur when there is very good skin elasticity so the skin will bounce back  after the fat is removed and not leave loose hanging skin. 
Based on your photo, it looks like liposuction may be helpful for you, particularly at your back and abdomen.  It is not possible to tell on the photo if your arms may be more suited for an arm lift procedure.

Cool sculpting can be a wonderful nonsurgical tool for the removal of a moderate amount of stubborn fat in select patients. Is does not address significant excess skin or loosening of the abdominal muscles from pregnancy and age. A board certified/eligible plastic surgeon would be able to clarify your specific concerns and work with you to develop a plan that would address those concerns. Most people need a combination of fat removal, skin tightening, and possibly muscle tightening to get the most dramatic results. Only removing fat in people who have loose skin can actually worsen the appearance of the loose skin. In a consultation with a board certified/eligible plastic surgery you can discuss each body part and review what type of improvement you can expect with different interventions and what would be the best fit for you.

Skin quality as we mature becomes a issue with liposuction. Your best bet would probably be ( we have not examined your skin quality) tummy tuck, liposuction of the flanks & brachioplasty.
