Thanks for asking your question. Blood thinners do not automatically bar you from getting Thermiva. Thermiva is non-surgical and doesn't break the skin. That being said, I would recommend seeing your physician and giving him your complete medical history so that you and he together and come up with the best plan for you. Good luck.
Absolutely! The contraindications for ThermiVa treatments are as follows: presence of an internal stimulator/cardiac device (i.e. pacemaker, defibrillator, mechanical valve), pregnancy, active STD, and/or current urinary tract infection.
Thermiva is a non-surgical RF treatment to the vulvovaginal area. It does not cause bleeding and it's safe to perform even if you are currently on blood thinners. Best wishes!Goretti H. Taghva MD FACS
Thank you for asking such an important question. There is no contraindication for having ThermiVa Treatments either with a history of blood clots or while currently taking blood thinners. ThermiVa treatments do not increase your risk of clotting and the treatment does not break the skin, so blood thinners are not a problem. There are certain implanted cardiac devices that are sometimes used with blood thinners and are a contraindication with ThermiVa, so be sure to tell your provider about all your medical conditions. Good luck to you.
You may have the ThermiVa procedure while on blood thinners. It is a radiofrequency device that uses thermal energy and does not involve any cutting of the tissue. There are no contraindications with the use of ThermiVa and blood clots nor blood thinners. The procedure is very safe and comfortable.Best, Dr Chughtai
Thank you for your insightful question. Yes, this would be a much safer option versus surgery.Best wishes,Aimee Nguyen, M.D.
Hello and thank you for your question. Contraindications for ThermiVa include pregnancy, infection, pelvic organ prolapse and the use of defibrillator devices. Blood thinners are not a contraindication for ThermiVa and will not prevent you from having the treatment. However, you should be sure your board-certified plastic surgeon is informed of your full medical history in the event that you have future procedures with them that may have blood thinners as a contraindication. I hope this answers your question. Schedule an in-person consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area for more information and a full consultation. Good luck!- Carl N. Williams, Jr., MD
Being on blood thinners is not a contraindication to ThermiVa treatments. Contraindications for treatment include pregnancy, currently vaginal or urinary infections, pelvic organ prolapse, or AICD or defibrillator patients.
ThermiVa has no contraindication for blood clot history (DVT). It also is non-surgical, so is probably a good option when on a blood thinner, since it causes no bleeding.
Thank you for your question. Yes, you should be able to have ThermiVa performed. Please consult with a gynecologist for a complete pelvic examination to see if you are a good candidate for the procedure. Take care! All of the best,Dr. Serrao
