Had endobrow lift 3 weeks ago and there is an indentation above my left eyebrow slightly off center. Dr said this was due to cutting the nerves in order to eliminate vertical frown lines between my eyes. He suggested Botox. Then he said he was confident it would resolve itself. Can some explain this to me?
Answer: A fascia graft after the swelling goes down This can be from corrugater muscle resection or just due to asymmetric muscle contraction from a corrugater or frontalis interruption. This area is hazardous to inject with fat or filler, as complications such as blindness (which are rare) are possible, but unlikely. After 28 years of performing endoscopic brow lifts, both revisions and primaries, I feel that the best treatment is to fashion a fascia graft to fit the area through a limited dissection (you don't have to do the whole forehead lift again), and create a precise pocket that the graft is sutured into with tapering into the areas adjacent.

Answer: Muscle Removal With Browlift It appears that your surgeon resected a portion of the corrugator muscle during your browlift. This muscle is responsible for for the vertical frown lines we typically see between the eyebrows. I do not regularly remove any muscle, as contour irregularities consistent with what you are experiencing, can develop. I would suggest you allow at least 6 months for healing. If a deformity is still present at this time, dermal filler or fat grafting can be used to smooth the depression. I suggest you followup with a board certified facial plastic surgeon for evaluation. Good Luck

Answer: Forehead indentation after endobrow lift Thank you for your question. This looks like an area where the corrugator muscle was removed. You may need filler or structural fat grafting to correct this. It's too early to tell for sure. Wait and see. To be sure, see your surgeon or two or more board certified and experienced plastic surgeons for evaluation and recommendations. I hope this helps.

Answer: Why is there an indentation between my eyes after endobrow lift? Will it go away? In my opinion Botox is the wrong therapy! I would use a HA filler or fat grafts to this indented area..

Answer: Indentation after EndoBrow Lift Dear Missy, It appears to me that the corrugator muscle was removed causing the indentation you see. Personally, I prefer to cut the corrugator muscle which eliminates the lines versus removing it to avoid this complication. I would not use botox to treat this depression and personally I would not use a filler at this time until you see if this resolves itself after further recovery. If you continue to have a depression after your surgeon feels you have waited the appropriate recovery time I would then discuss with your surgeon the possibility of using a filler or fat grafting. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
