Hello Barbara and thanks for your question. The simple answer is no. Textured implants typically feel firmer than their smooth shell counterparts and can have a higher incidence of folding (rippling) and leakage over time. Textured implants are important in reducing the risks of capsular contracture in some patients. See a board certified PS and see if they have samples of each for you to feel. Best wishes, Dr. Aldo.
Textured implants feel exactly the same as smooth silicone implants beneath the tissue. Plastic surgeons have various best reasons for placing textured implants. But to the non-medical person feel and the look is exactly the same.
Silicone gel implants whether smooth or textured can feel natural and soft depending on the circumstances. Textured implants have a thicker shell than the smooth so if you have very little breast tissue or thin skin, you may want to consider a smooth silicone gel. Otherwise, it's not likely that you will feel a difference. I prefer smooth silicone gel in my office and only use textured in specific cases. Make sure you feel both of them when you have your consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. ac
Silicone breast implants come both smooth and textured. They are both more natural feeling than either smooth or textured saline implants. Silicone implants also come in cohesive gel or highly cohesive gel "gummy bear" anatomic implants. the more highly cohesive gel implants feel a bit more firm than a "standard" cohesive gel implant. Texturing is said to slightly reduce the incidence of capsular contracture. Texturing of the implant can reduce the abnormal movement of the implant (dynamic displacement) if the implant is placed beneath the muscle. This may certainly make the implant appear more natural but has nothing to do with the feel of the implant. No implant is perfect but they all mimic breast tissue quite nicely. There are so many choiuces that it is important to go to a plastic surgeon who has experience with each type of implant and can help pick the best one for you.
Of course they are, just ask your Plastic Surgeon (ASAPS member) to show you one, we always have samples in our offices.
Both textured and smooth implants should feel about the same. My preference is to use smooth implants for most patients because I think they move around more naturally.
Thank you for the question. In my practice, the majority of breast implants used are smooth, round breast implants placed in the sub muscular (dual plane) position. I have found that the “softness” of both smooth and textured breast implants depend mainly on how much soft tissue coverage is present over the breast implants and the presence or absence of thickened capsule tissue. In other words, in the absence of encapsulation, and the presence of a significant amount of soft tissue/breast tissue coverage, patients with either type of breast implants can end up with very soft outcomes. I hope this helps.
Textured breast implants have a thicker wall than smooth walled breast implants. In some cases textured implants feel slightly firmer than smooth-walled implants. However with adequate breast tissue and muscle covering the breast implants I often find it is impossible to tell the difference between the two.
Thank you for your question If you are early in your post op. After breast augmentation bizarre sensations such as crackling, sloshing and even grinding can occur. As others have stated it is likely nothing to be concerned about. However I suggest you contact your plastic...

Rippling happens more commonly when there is not a lot of soft tissue coverage. This is more common as well in the lower pole. If you are seeing it at three weeks, it might get worse.
