Answer: Breast Augmentation Hello and thank you for your question.I recommend calling your primary physician. The cause of your low WBC needs to be figured out before proceeding with an elective surgery. Best wishes.

Answer: Causes of low WBC counts are numerous. Hey there,It could be due to viral infections, medications, autoimmune conditions, cancers of the hematopoietic system, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and list is endless. Breast augmentation with alloplastic material can lead to severe infections and eventually implant extrusions. Breast augmentation using tissues such as fat and pedicle muscle can still be performed considering the fact that your WBC level is just on the lower side of normal. It would be prudent to thoroughly investigate the causes and then proceed accordingly. If it's due to treatable viral infections, then it's better to wait until the infections settle down and then proceed with the surgery. Hope this helps.

Answer: Low WBC before surgery You are correct. Sometimes, a viral or other infection can deplete your infection fighting cells (especially your neutrophils) and cause a temporary drop in your count as you recover. Sometimes a medical side effect, an autoimmune disease, or other medical problem is to blame. Please see your primary care doctor for a quick workup. It may be as simple as getting another CBC lab check.

Answer: Low WBC and breast augmentation Hello and thank you for your excellent question. I agree with the other comments on this thread. While there are many innocuous causes for a low white blood cell count, you really need to have this properly evaluated before you have elective surgery. I suggest that you follow up with your primary care doctor. Good luck! Best, Jon Ver Halen, MD FACS Harvard educated plastic surgeon Texas “Top Doc”
