Otoplasty. Why do I have these bumps behind my ear? (Photo)

I had otoplasty procedure done a little over 3 months ago. I wore my headband for 6 weeks all day and night. Removed only for showers. I don't know if these bumps are from the permanent sutures or the dissolvable sutures that took so long for them to fall off? There were still small pieces sticking out at 8 weeks. Have they healed well so far? My ears don't hurt anymore if I bump them lightly. I have no discomfort or itchiness.

Hello Beautyyyispain,With an otoplasty there are various techniques.  The bumps you see behind your ear likely represent the sutures holding everything in the new position.  I would recommend you don't pull your ear forward as that risks damaging the sutures and allowing the ear to return to its previous position.  If the sutures are dissolvable this may improve with time.  If they are not they may still improve but not to the same extent.  If you are concerned I'd recommend you follow up with your surgeon. In an otoplasty, the ear is sutured (not pinned) backward. An crescent of skin is removed. Occasionally, bumps like yours form for a variety of reasons: 1) skin bunching 2) deep sutures still waiting to dissolve 3) permanent sutures pushing on the skin 4) scar tissue nodules.  I would return to your plastic surgeon for an evaluation and I would encourage you to NOT pull your ear forward.
