Due to an accident 5 months ago I have herniated discs on my lower back (L5-S1 ) and (L4-L5) I’ve had 2 lumbar epidural steroid injections making the pain to reduce a bit . I would like to get a BBL but I’m not sure if it will damage/effect my existing condition. I’m 5’5 about 165lbs. Am I able to get a BBL or Should I wait more months to see if I heal?

Answer: Getting a BBL after back injury most likely getting a BBL would not aggravate your back problem. Still there are several things to take into consideration. One is the recovery after a BBL can be challenging. Each plastic surgeon will have their own protocol for what to do after the procedure but theseoften include not laying on your back for several weeks. Are you comfortable sleeping on your abdomen? Can you do so for several weeks. Some plastic surgeons will ask you to not sit for several weeks as well some plastic surgeons will give you a special pillow to sit on the puts the pressure on the back of your thighs. A lot of this is going to be based on subjective criteria which in the end is going to be how you perceive your back injury and how you think you can handle the recovery. Medically I see no reason you could not have a BBL but if you have excruciating back pain then I would not suggest having this procedure. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
