Removal of sharp dorsal bumps - do I need a full rhinoplasty for this?

Hi! I am a 30 yo F. I have two sharp bumps on my nose that I would love to smooth down. Is it possible to have a procedure that only smooths the bumps? I like the tip of my nose as it is and I am too nervous to do any major changes to the size/shape of my nose. Do I need a full rhinoplasty for this?

First of all, you need to be positive that it's the only change you want. Things can happen. For example, the surgeon might delicately remove the bumps, but now that part of the bridge looks a little wider, and that bothers you now. A good exam from a good surgeon would give you an idea of the risk of something like that happening.

The other item is that you must have your surgeon place his hand on the stove and swear to you that he will touch nothing other than those bumps. I've seen soooo many patients who had surgery to address one issue, but the surgeon decided on his own, during surgery, that he just *had* to work on this other thing that bothers *him*. And then your nose is never again your nose. Trust is a big issue here, and you shouldn't take it for granted.

Then finally, a surgeon needs to traverse most of your nose to get up to where the bumps are, and that can cause some small problems as well. Probably not, but it's just one of the risks you have to navigate in deciding whether to give it a go. If you like your current nose (except for the bumps), I'd be reticent to have an operation.

In my hands I would lower your entire nasal bridge. Just trying to shave gown those bumps is not going to work well at all
