I am 19 years old and my receding chin has always bothered me. I had buccal fat removal 2 years ago for excess cheek fat. My main insecurity is the convex appearance of my face but i'm not sure if a chin implant/chin filler would be a better route than genioplasty. I like the less invasive nature of filler or an implant, but the migration of filler along with how temporary it is dissuades me. I've also heard that an implant isn't a good option for a young patient.

Your understanding is correct and anterior or forward augmentation of your chin will by definition worsen the labiomental fold.

Over time, the bone actually tends to grow over the hardware. Occasionally, the hardware is removed due to irritation, but at that point, the bone has healed and the chin segment will remain in place. There is no reason for the bone to erode.
