Each plastic surgeon that performs BBLs has his or her own theories as to how to improve the blood supply to the new cells which, of course, increases the number of newly transplanted cells that survive. If you were my patient, I would recommend the continued use of DMSO and ultrasound (the kind physical therapists use for sore muscles) to improve blood supply and decrease the inflammatory process that might destroy grafted fat cells. At 5 weeks, sitting on one's butt is generally encouraged by most plastic surgeons. Exercising, in my opinion, is a good idea because it improves overall tone, and as long as you are not dieting, it will unlikely lead to loss of transplanted cells. In my personal practice, I also recommend Accolate by mouth for the first 90 days after a BBL to decrease the inflammatory process and increase the retention of new fat cells transplanted to the buttocks. I personally see no necessity to wear buttock shaping garments after the first 5 weeks. Of course, all the comments above are my opinion. I recommend you call your personal plastic surgeon to get his or her take on what you should do at this juncture.
My recommendation is to use the pillow for six weeks, wear the compression garment for 4 weeks, and engage in no exercise for six weeks. Best to ask the plastic surgeon who performed your BBL for guidance.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified PSLos Angeles, CA
Yes, you have a couple of options: you can sleep on your sides, or place pillows underneath your thighs and lower back. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. There's not difference in techniques, but there's always difference between each plastic surgeon and their recommendations. It always depend on the experience each doctor had with their patients; but certainly, the less pressure...
That's a great question. Many offices work with companies such as CareCredit and Alphaeon that offer financing for medical procedures. Seek a board certified plastic surgeon who performs many of these procedures, has great reviews and photos, and is an expert in this field.
