Answer: Bleeding gums after veneers may be caused by bulky veneer margins It's difficult to fully assess the situation without a proper exam. However, in my experience, patients who present unhappy with veneers recently placed at other offices with a chief complaint of bleeding puffy gums even with proper at home oral hygiene, usually present with bully margins at the gum line. A veneer or crown should be flush with the tooth so that it looks flat and natural coming out of the gum tissue. When left bulky a ledge is created that is a good and plaque trap. Get them checked out ASAP.

Answer: Bleeding gums after veneer placement is not normal... #DrSoftTouch If your gums are bleeding, it could be due to a few reasons. My first assumption, is that there is some food trapping in the area of the margin (this is where the veneer border meets the gum-line). This can usually be corrected with bonding. It is very important to floss a couple times a day, brush a few times a day and use an alcohol free mouthwash once a day. (Refrain from drinking or eating just before bed or in bed at night after brushing. If you try this routine for the next 7 days, I suspect that the bleeding will cease. Good luck and I hope this helps. Follow me if you have more questions.Sarah Thompson, DMD

Answer: Bleeding gums equal bacterial intrusion. The most common reason for bleeding gums around veneers or crowns that I have seen is due to margins that are not flush. What I mean is that the edge of the veneer closest to the gums should be flush and hardly perceptible if probed; even with your fingernail. Often, they are left with a ledge that allows bacteria to collect and cause the gums to bleed. As the other doctor suggested, violation of the biologic space is another possibility. Proper flossing and brushing will help, but getting them looked at by a qualified cosmetic dentist is a must. Good luck.

Answer: Bleeding porcelain veneers Bleeding gums after porcelain veneers can be the result of several factors. There could be cement stuck below the gumline and should be removed if so. The veneers could be over contoured and pressing against the tissue violating the biologic width space. Finally, the bite could be off and you may be clenching at night as a result. Whatever the cause, don't delay in getting it fixed.
