What's the best options for hemangioma on my lip? (Photos)

Question

Saw a dermatologist today for a hemangioma on my lip. I was told a vbeam laser would be the best option and I would need a few treatments, that it wont take it away but just make the bump smaller. Also that the vbeam is used for red color veins but my hemangioma is like a purple/blue mark. Im just so confused on what to do and what the best option is and which laser will completely take this away. Please help

I would agree with the dermatologist that you saw and try the Vbeam laser to treat the hemangioma on your lip.  This is a low risk procedure that could give you good results.

Thank you for your question and photos. The Vbeam targets the blood underneath the skin, so it is appropriate for red and purple colors. The laser will likely give you good results on your lip, but your doctor is correct in that it might require more than one treatment to have the full effect. We could also use the Cooltouch Varia alone or in combination with the Vbeam to get the best result. Make sure you are working with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist that has extensive experience using the Vbeam and Cooltouch Varia to ensure you achieve an optimal outcome.

Vbeam laser is very effective for superficial fine facial vessels and I have used pulsed dye and then the Vbeam laser in thousands of patients since the early1990s but it is not effective for deeper lesions such as hemangiomas and some venous lakes of the lip. VBeam is great for reds and purples. Like capillaries and blood. So it's a great option for your hemangioma. This is actually why VBeam was originally developed years and years ago - for hemangiomas and port wine stains.
