I have a large nose with a bump, and I would like not only the bump taken out, but also the size of the root of my nose shaved down so that I have a more defined transition from forehead to nose, is this difficult to do from the surgeons viewpoint or even possible?

Answer: Radix reduction It is not difficult, and it can be done at the same time in your rhinoplasty. I do thin that some minor reduction of the radix will be needed but not too much.Go for it, you can achieve a really good improvement with a rhinoplasty.Best of luck,

Answer: Is it difficult for a surgeon to reduce radix/root size of my nose during rhinoplasty? The areas that concern you can be realistically improved to produce a more refined feminine appearing nose by undergoing a natural appearing artistically performed rhinoplasty. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) ) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACSLa Jolla, California
