Do I have a recessed maxilla & will jaw surgery improve my appearance? (Photos)

Hello, I'm having trouble figuring out what's making my face look unflattering. It looks to me that I have no jaw projection. I have suffered from jaw pain in the past, and I'm not sure if my jaw looks uneven or not. What would you recommend I do to improve my appearance? Is there a dental option to fix the lack of jaw projection?
