A genioplasty is an excellent choice, but the surgery is more invasive. Your bottom lip will indeed be affected in some capacity, but an experienced surgeon who often does these types of surgeries can produce positive results.
Alternatively, you could have a permanent custom chin implant placed through an incision in the crease under the chin; this approach would protect your bottom lip and surrounding tissue. You will still have the normal numbness in the chin area and even your bottom lip after the surgery, but your lips will likely be unaffected.
For aesthetic purposes only, a genioplasty isn't better than a custom implant and vice versa. If you ever decide that a custom chin implant isn't your "cup of tea," you can always replace it or remove it without affecting your lips or mouth.
