How long does facial swelling last after rhinoplasty?

Question

I recently had a rhinoplasty procedure and 2 days post op I noticed my eyes were purple and swollen to the point where opening them was painful. Ofter the past few days I have noticed the swelling on my has lessened slightly and the bruises have turned yellow, however, now my cheeks and lower face is totally swollen. My cheeks still haven't budged, I understand that swelling on the actual nose takes about 1 year to subside completely, but what about facial swelling?

The majority of facial swelling subsides after one week.  However, a small amount of facial swelling can be present for the first 3-6 months depending on the type of rhinplasty.  This is in contrast to nasal swelling which can be a year or longer in some cases.

Swelling typically extends under the eyes and  over  the cheeks. Most swelling subsides over the first few weeks.  Miner swelling can be present for. a number of months.

Facial bruising and swelling varies. Generally, it is worst if osteotomies or a dorsal hump reduction were done. Generally speaking, most of the bruising and swelling of the cheeks should subside after 14 days or so. Nasal swelling, however, may and will persist longer, up to 6 weeks, although the final results of rhinoplasty are typically not seen for many months. This is due to the fact that contracture of the skin-soft tissue envelope over the underlying bony-cartilaginous framework occurs for many months (if not years) after surgery. The further you're out from surgery, the less the changes will be, though. Best wishes.

Immediately
after surgery, a small splint will be placed on your nose to protect it and to
keep the structure stable for a week. If packing is placed inside the nose
during surgery, it is removed the morning following the surgery. Your face will
feel puffy, especially the first day after surgery. Pain medication may be
required. You will be advised to avoid blowing your nose for seven days
after surgery. In the immediate days following surgery, you may experience
bruising and minor swelling in the eye area. Cold compresses often reduce the
bruising and discomfort.. Nasal splints and sutures are usually removed  seven days after surgery.
