A cosmetic rhinoplasty is not covered by Medicare. When functional problems are present, correction of those problems may be covered by insurnace if deemed medically necessary. Functional problems can include collaspe of valves of the nose, deviation of the septum, and increased size of the turbinates.
Rhinoplasty as a cosmetic Surgery procedure and is not covered by Medicare. A broken nose is repaired with a procedure called an open reduction nasal fracture, not a rhinoplasty. Breathing problems caused by a deviated septum are treated with a septoplasty, not a rhinoplasty.
In our practice, rhinoplasty is not  painful because we do not put any packing inside the nose. Packing is painful and is no longer used. Most patients take a few medium strength Vicodin pain pills the first  Night or two to help them get some sleep.
My experience with getting reasonable insurance coverage has been disappointing.  The total cost of your procedure will probably be in the $8000 range.  However, insurance may only cover a few thousand and that might not even enable you to cover your deductible.
Great question. It can be one of a number of different things but I suspect it is either cartilage or a suture knot. By now the suture knot should have dissolved if it was a dissolvable suture. Either way, if it bother you, that area can be fairly easily corrected under local anesthesia on...
