Can a ENT do Rhinoplasty?

Hi. There are multiple surgical specialties that claim to do cosmetic rhinoplasty.  In australia any surgeon or for that matter cosmetic GP could legally do a rhinoplasty. There are ENT surgeons doing breast augmentations. The reality is that you need to do your research and make sure they are fully qualified, have an interest in rhinoplasty and have good results. Regards Damien

Hi thereRhinoplasty these days is almost a specialty in itself, so see someone who really makes rhinoplasty an important part of their practice. Training and experience are vital as it is a very demanding procedure.  A nose needs to look good, function well, if anything improve with time, and be appropriate for a person's face.ENT or Plastic surgeons both do rhinoplasty well. But not all have it as a main interest.  Choose on this basis.I hope this helps.

 Look for a surgeon who is performing lots of rhinoplasty procedures, has an extensive array of before and after photos  in  their photo gallery of rhinoplasty, and is dual board certified in ENT and facial plastic surgery.

This question is rare nowadays--most experienced rhinoplasty surgeons know that the background in otolaryngology ("ENT") is actually very beneficial for performing rhinoplasty.  The pathway through plastic surgery and otolarygology is not as important as the experience and skill of the surgeon.  Ask about the number of years of experience, how many they do, and look at some results.   You may want to speak to a few recent patients.  This will be a better guide for you.I hope this helps,Best,Dr. Most

Yes. There are many different paths to take in training that lead to doing rhinoplasty surgery. There are general plastic surgeons who perform rhinoplasty and facial plastic surgeons who perform the same. The facial plastic surgery certification implies that they were an ENT physician initially and had subsequent training in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face alone. Best of luck
