I am prescribed valium normally because I am so nervous when it comes to any medical setting, I was told I cannot take my meds before I come in. I am curious if they will give me something right when I get there so I can keep my composure, I am a very nervous person!
Answer: Preoperative anxiety It is completely normal for you to be nervous in medical settings, especially surgery. At most centers, once an IV has been placed, a small amount of anti-anxiety medicine will be given to relax you. This experience should be a pleasant one, and the staff should easily accommodate your needs. This begins with the surgeon you choose, his or her staff, and the entire preoperative process as well.

Answer: Will I be given something to calm down right away when I come in for my surgery? No worries! You got this. Remind yourself why you are having surgery and how happy you will be once your results have set in. Focus on that, until you have signed your paperwork and spoken to your surgeon, nurses, and anesthesia. Then and only then will you be given something to relax.Best wishes to you!

Answer: Pre-operative medication before surgery It is always best to check with your operative surgeon about what they would like to give patients who are very anxious prior to elective cosmetic surgery. In our practice, patients are given a Valium type medicine once the IV has been started.
