Chest skin irritation and color change after FUE - 2 weeks post-op. (Photo)

Question

I did hair transplant two weeks ago, chest hair was used for FUE (~ 1000 grafts). Though the chest scars were healing during the first week, since a few days ago it started itching. I applied some corticosteroid creams (called my doctor and he said it's ok). Now since two days ago I see that part of my skin around the red spots has turned blue/yellow-ish. Can the yellowish skin be an infection? Can the red spots intensity be due to new hair growing? How long should the scars take to heal? Thanks!

This is normal for 2 weeks post operation. It is normal to have skin color change for a shoert period after FUE. You can use a scar healing lotion if you want it to heal faster.

It is best to contact your doctor about post operative care and instructions since each doctor has a different regimen.You should contact your doctor AGAIN if things have changed.It is best to have a good communication with your doctor.

The redness remains just after surgery and it is "normal" to stay for months. That pinkish redness/discoloration may fade away in a long time up to 3-4 months . İt depends on your skin color/fitzpatrick classification (Lighter the color of your skin , more reddish discoloration on skin after surgery). I recommend you to use nothing for that temporary situation.

It is best if you are evaluated in person by your surgeon to address the concerns you are having after your procedure.  The yellowing may be due from residual bruising of the skin as it does tend to turn yellow after the initial bruising dissipates.  The chest skin is a very sensitive area and discoloration is not uncommon after FUE.  However, if you are concerned about an infection have yourself evaluated so your surgeon can place you on antibiotics if needed.

The pink color in your chest may be your skin type as you appear to be fair skinned.  This color should abate with time but if you are concerned, go back and see your doctor
