Pressure at temples 4 weeks after face lift.

Question

I'm getting severe pressure in my head at my temples this has been for the last 3 and a half weeks my face lift was 4 weeks ago. My PS tells me this is nothing to do with the surgery but I feel differently. I am very tight at the temple area and my skin pulls when I close my eyes.

When the skin is separated from the underlying tissues during surgery, small sensory #nerves are cut. Varying degrees of numbness will be present after surgery and will improve gradually as the nerves reconnect to the skin. This process can take from 2-6 months for face, neck and cheeks, and to 9-12 months for the forehead and scalp. Muscle weakness may also be present around the mouth especially if liposuction is used. This typically recovers fully in the months after surgery. As the nerves regenerate, the itching, burning, tingling and shooting #sensations will occur. Ice, moisturizers and gentle #massaging are helpful during this phase of the #healing process.

You problably had some form of temporal lift of your lateral brows or possibly a MACS facelift where sutures are placed into your temporalis muscle fascia.  This could result in such symptoms which typically improve over a few weeks after the procedure as the sutures relax and dissolve.

Considering you are only 4 weeks out from surgery, things will continue to improve. If you have small areas in the temple that are very tender to touch, your surgeon might consider injecting some dilute steroid in those areas. At 4 weeks post op there is still significant amount of swelling and

healing is still early. These procedures require about 6 months for

maturation and many symptoms will resolve during that process.

Follow your surgeon's recommendations and follow up visits.
