5 weeks post-gynecomastia surgery nipples still pointy? Will they flatten out eventually? (photos)

Thank you for your question about male breast reduction, gynecomastia, chest sculpting, and pointy nipples after gynecomastia surgery.  Five weeks after gynecomastia surgery is too soon to determine anything.  I would give yourself about 8-10 weeks for all the breast swelling to subside.  I believe your pointy nipples after male breast reduction surgery are caused by a combination of swelling and scar tissue.  Usually, both these issues resolve with time.  In the meantime, I would suggest you continue to wear a very tight chest compression garment to reduce any swelling.  If your nipples are still pointy after 10 weeks after your gynecomastia surgery, you and your plastic surgeon may want to consider a revision.  Good luck!  I hope I answered your question about pointy nipples after male breast reduction surgery.  If you have any other questions regarding male breast reduction, gynecomastia, chest sculpting, or revision gynecomastia surgery, please contact my office.  Sincerely, Dr. J. Thank you for sharing your question and photographs.  I see definite improvement in your nipple projection from your before to after images and think that with continued maturation of your results you should have a nice outcome.  Hang in there!

Although most swelling dissipates around 6 weeks, every patient heals at his own rate. Be patient. The appearance of your nipples will improve as the swelling fully resolves. Best of luck.
