I had 6 litres removed with VASER lipo 5 days ago and the swelling is increasing every day. I am probably bigger now than I was before the lipo. I also feel lightheaded and slightly nauseous pretty much all the time. The pain is bearable but the nausea is debilitating. I understand that I have had a large procedure but the amount of swelling now is alarming. I am a 50yr old male otherwise healthy. Are there any warning signs I should be looking out for? Any advice much appreciated.
Answer: Swelling after VASER Hi there, You have had significant amounts removed. Therefore there will be large amounts for fluid shift resulting in some lightheadedness and also tissue swelling. This should resolve in time esp with MLD massage. If it does not improve day by day then you should see your Dr again to see all is ok.

Answer: Swelling After Lipo Hello, Thank you for your question regarding swelling after VASER liposuction. It is important that you follow-up with your private plastic surgeon. Physical examination will be necessary to evaluate your post-operative swelling. However, in general, there is a significant amount of swelling after any type of liposuction, especially after VASER liposuction. The swelling is present for approximately 6 to 8 weeks after the VASER liposuction. To minimize the swelling, it is vital for you to wear your compression garments for 6 to 8 weeks after VASER liposuction. Also, to reduce the swelling, I suggest lymphatic massage. Radiofrequency can also help to minimize swelling. Regarding the lightheadedness and nausea, these are not normal and should be reported immediately to your plastic surgeon. Thank you for your questions regarding your postoperative condition after VASER liposuction. If you have any more questions regarding the post-operative course after VASER liposuction body lift or plastic surgery in general, please contact my office.Sincerely, Dr. Katzen. Answer: Increased swelling 5 days after lipo Hello, Thank you for your question. The good news is that an increase in swelling is normal. While the lightheadeness is not surprising, given the “fluid shifts” that occur after 6 L of removal, it’s important you are able to hydrate. Symptoms of dehydration’s such as absent or decreased urination, rapid heart rate, and fainting need to be addressed by a health practitioner. It’s important to drink plenty of fluids. Best wishes, Dr. Moein

Answer: Swelling Hello. Thanks for the question. It sounds like you had a significant amount of fluid and fat removed during your surgery. It is not uncommon to get fluid shift. Consider drinking more fluids to purge out system and lymphatic massage. If persists, keep in contact with your physician.
