Answer: PATIENTS HAVE DIFFERENT HEALING PROCESSES AND DEADLINES. Hello mysteriousxill, I’m sorry for the adverse symptoms you are experiencing. After VASER Liposuction, pain and soreness may occur and should be relieved with analgesics. These pain medications are usually prescribed by plastic surgeons to help with general discomfort. Some amount of bruising and swelling are expected, and it will disappear with time. Spotty areas of numbness are common and may last several weeks but will also disappear. Similarly, feelings of burning, and tightness are common occurrence during the healing process, but will decrease with each passing day. Typically, itching of the treated areas after liposuction may occur as part of the normal healing process. However, since the itching is extremely unbearable, I would recommend resisting the urge to scratch at all costs and consulting with your plastic surgeon to rule out infection and/or allergic reactions. Some patients experience allergic itchiness in response to certain medicines, adhesives, and medical tape; wearing the post-operative compression garments; or irritation at the site of the incision. Your plastic surgeon may switch your compression garments to a product that doesn’t irritate your skin, and/or change your medications, and prescribe oral anti-histamines (such as Benadryl, Zyrtec or Claritin) and anti-histamine lotions, as well as oath meal soap and products that can be purchased at most drugstores. Keep yourself hydrated and avoid alcohol, since alcohol is an inflammatory, so it may increase swelling and itching. Staying properly hydrated will help reduce dry skin, which is often the cause for excessive flakiness and itching following surgery. Good luck and may God bless you! Dr. De La Cruz.

Answer: 12 day post Vaser Lipo. The itchiness is driving me insane. Is this normal? Thank you for your question. In my practice, I routinely place my patients on Gabapentin three days prior to the VASER liposuction and for one month postop to specifically combat the symptoms you have from the sensory nerve issues. Talk to your plastic surgeon about this. Good luck with your healing.

Answer: Liposuction Results & After care includes RF treatments (Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra) Cellutone/zwave, hyperbaric oxygen Yes, as the skin heals, itching can be normal. You may also have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Itching following vaser liposuction Thank you for your question. Itching following any type of surgery, including liposuction, is very common. This can be multifactorial. It could due to the medications, garments, the healing process, soap, etc. The swelling and tightness sensation is also very common this soon after surgery. Patients often describe a hard/woody feel in the immediate postoperative period. Expect swelling to persist for 6-12 weeks. Over this time, the feeling will soften up. Garments should be snug, but not tight. Patients often times say that they difficult or uncomfortable, but not painful. Best thing to due is contact your surgeon with your concerns. They will help guide you through the postoperative healing process and recommend medications to help alleviate your symptoms. I hope this helps!
