Some minor swelling for a couple of weeks, and healing over 6 weeks. Thank you for your question and good luck with everything.
Acne scars are VERY difficult to treat. Unfortunately, it seems like there are "miracle" cures out there, with the latest, gretest laser treatment. I think the road you are taking has a very good chance of making a significant improvement. Good luck!
There are a number of classes of acne scars. Most respond well to basic subcision to release scar bands and allow lifting of the tissue. This is then followed by plumping the under surface with some type of filler, in this case your own fat cells. I have had good success with this technique. Scars are always present once they form but can really be improved. The most difficult cases are what we consider "ice pick scars." They are very deep and narrow. Often times I will place a small skin graft from behind the ear into these types of scars for best results. Best of luck, Dr. Todd Hobgood
When using this technique to treat depressed acne scars I have found that both patient and surgeon were satisfied with the results achieved. Treatment of acne scars is very difficult - I always tell patients that there will be improvement but the scars will not be eliminated.
