Hi, I had 4040 grafts done 7 days ago, and my recipient area is still crusty/with scabs. Since day 4 I have applied panthenol prior to shampooing, but I was provided no spray to keep the grafts moist. Is it normal? Can the presence of crusts/scabs after one week affect my outcome? Thank you.

Answer: Conditioner Method Generally crusts should be gone by day 14 at the latest. Be sure you're washing properly: shampoo, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, rinse. Then conditioner, let it sit 5-10 minutes, then massage gently with your finger pads and rinse. Doing that should loosen and cause most of the scabs/crusts to fall out. If they're particularly stubborn you can use baby oil, letting it sit then massaging gently with your finger pads. Of course oil will be harder to rinse out, but it works very well on loosening the scabs.

Answer: Scabs & crusts You should gently clean the transplanted area with a special shampoo and mousse during the first 10 days following the hair transplant procedure. Scabs in the recipient area will typically fall off after 10 days. You may resume normal washing after this natural process occurs. Furthermore, I advise you to contact your surgeon for specific advice and direction.
