Will SMAS facelift help correct my facial asymmetry? (photos)

Question

My right side of face is rounder and a bit saggy than the left side of my face. My left side is more prominent with defined cheekbones whereas the other side is more rounded. The nose, eyes and lips of right side are sagging and a rounder. I wanna correct this and look like my left side. What procedures shall correct this? Is jaw shaving required to correct the more rounded side?

Facial asymmetry exists, to some degree in everyone.  Some patients have prominent asymmetry and some are very subtle. This is symmetry can be seen in the position of the eye, the nose, the jawline and the volume in the face.  You should have a detailed consultation with your plastic surgeon to determine which of these asymmetries can be corrected with minimal intervention, as you look very youthful and a facelift seems premature. Facial asymmetry is a universal phenomenon that affects everyone to varying degrees. There are differences in the positioning and size of facial components, making one side of the face appear slightly larger than the other.

Trying to achieve perfect symmetry is essentially impossible and often results in outcomes that are less than satisfactory. When asymmetry is severe, it can be worth pursuing improvements. However, with mild asymmetries, attempts to correct them can frequently lead to disappointment.

Evaluating the asymmetry on just one view is deceptive, because it does not integrate the information about the three-dimensional asymmetry of the face. Because of this, the attempts to change the asymmetry from one view leads to some potential anomalies from other angles.

In your case, my impression is that the level of asymmetry is relatively mild and does not warrant intervention. The asymmetry visible in your photographs is well within the normal range and is not something that typically requires correction.

Some degree of facial asymmetry is normal. Volume augmentation with the use of intra-dermal fillers may aid in correcting slight asymmetry. Major surgery may not be indicated because the ability to achieve perfect symmetry would still be limited to underlying anatomy. An in office consultation with a treating provider is recommended to review your specific concerns.

The two sides of our face are not symmetrical, nor are used in the exact same way.  This is often related to our bone structure and face lift may not improve the differences.  You could have filler added to the smaller side, but please be conservative with this.
