Hello, 28m who had a mole removed over 10 years ago. The mole was benign. I haven't noticed any changes in the spot, but I am wondering if this pigmentation is expected 10 years after removal. Is this a spot that should be examined? Thanks
Answer: Scars Thank you for your inquiry! That is normal as scars mature. If the scar bothers you then I recommend scheduling a consult with a licensed Aesthetician to explore laser options.

Answer: Mole Removal Hello! My name is Jessica, I am a physician assistant, and one of the providers at Aesthetic Skin in Winnetka and Chicago. This is a great question. It's understandable to have concerns about any changes in your skin, especially after a mole removal. White pigmentation at the site of a previous mole can sometimes occur due to changes in the skin, such as scarring or loss of pigment. However, it's always a good idea to have any new or unusual spots examined by a dermatologist, especially if you notice changes in color, texture, or if it's itchy or bothersome. Since it's been 10 years, and you're not seeing any changes, it may just be a normal variation. Still, getting it checked can provide peace of mind and ensure that everything is as it should be. I hope this helps and best of luck!

Answer: Pigmentation can be addressed by doing resurfacing lasers to even out skin texture and tone. Mole removal begins with a comprehensive examination and consultation to determine the likelihood of a mole being worrisome. Excisional and incisional biopsies are reserved for suspicious moles. But it’s good news that most moles are not problematic and are only cosmetic, thus leading to the option of scarless or non-surgical mole removal with lasers and RF and plasma. Our office specializes in non-surgical mole removal. Best, Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian Realself 100 Surgeon

Answer: Is Pigmentation Normal 10 Years After Mole Removal? Hello, It's not uncommon to see pigmentation changes at the site of a mole removal, even years after the procedure. The area may develop some discoloration or scar tissue which can appear as a darker or lighter spot compared to the surrounding skin. However, it's always a good idea to have any changes in your skin evaluated by a dermatologist to rule out any potential issues, especially if the appearance has changed recently. I recommend scheduling an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist for a thorough examination to ensure everything is normal and to provide peace of mind.
