I have had numerous treatments with the erbium laser and they have worked fairly well. The doctor who does the erbium laser suggested trying Halo next. Since it is much more expensive I'd like to know if it will be effective?
Answer: Syringomas and Halo HFL First, I should start with the bad news by saying there are no studies showing the effects of Halo HFL on syringomas. The good news is this is common in laser medicine. The only data published shows that lasers like the erbium:Yag are helpful. That said, syringomas should do reasonably well with Halo. Syringomas are at the perfect depth in the skin for Halo (for physicians reading this, thats about 400 microns). It would take more than one treatment. You should know that syringomas are very hard to treat and it sounds like your doctor is choosing treatments for you that are very appropriate. The fact is, other than ablative lasers like erbium (and CO2) there just aren't many options for syringomas, and Halo is certainly an excellent choice given the scarcity of options out there. Knowing that the results can't be guaranteed, if you have the money it's worth a shot. -cr

Answer: Halo for Syringomas At the right depth of treatment the Halo could help to improve Syringomas. The great thing about the Halo is that you don't face the downtime you would with other laser resurfacing treatments. It will take multiple treatments and results aren't a guarantee, but it is something that is worth trying.

Answer: Halo Laser and Syringomas These need aggressive treatment to the individual spots either co2 or erbuim spot resurfacing or dessiccation with needle. I do not find that the fractional devices work well for these. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: HALO and syringoma treatment The HALO laser will not remove syringomas. Syringomas are deeper in the skin and are best treated with the Erbium:YAG or CO2 laser like you have been doing. Unfortunately you can continue to develop more syringomas over time. I would recommend continuing the Erbium:YAG treatments over HALO.Best wishes,Cody Koch

Answer: Halo for syringomas? Syringomas are distinct lesions located in the deeper tissues of eyelid skin. These need to be specifically 'drilled' out in order to remove them. Electric needles help to shrink them, but using a fine beam of erbium or CO2 laser to ablate them is the most effective. After numbing the eyelid skin and protecting your eyes with stainless steel protective lenses, we then treat individual lesions until they have been removed. Fractional treatments are great for overall skin texture but because the delivery of columns of energy is random, you are not specifically removing a lesion, so this is less effective overall as a treatment for syringomas.
